Marilyn Robson

Marilyn Robson    Chair

I have lived in Fleet for 36 years and love living here and have always taken a keen interest in anything that affects my town. In 2004 I moved to Elvetham Heath and have now found my ideal. I still live in Fleet but am part of a community that has the warmth of a village.

I have two daughters, one living in Oxford and one who also lives on Elvetham Heath. My two granddaughters attend Elvetham Heath Primary School. This is the place my family and I have chosen to live and and the community is an important part of what Elvetham Heath is all about.

I put myself forward to be a Parish Councillor because I firmly believe that a Parish Council for Elvetham Heath is the way forward.and I wanted to be there at the start. I want to make sure that Elvetham Heath continues to thrive as a community and that the quality of life here is maintained.for everyone to enjoy.

I moved to Elvetham Heath from Weybridge with my partner Louise back in 2001 and we've been in the same house ever since. This is by far the longest I've stayed in one place, but I love it here and can see no reason to move on anytime soon. There is a great sense of community here, and I want to try and help continue and develop that. I run my own business from home as a Project Management consultant.

I put myself forward as a Parish Councillor because I want to help develop the community as it matures into its second decade. I would love to help the community become 'greener' and more self sustaining - for example by establishing allotments within the parish and introducing communal composting facilities if suitable areas can be found for these. I also strongly believe that the addition of a new tier of government into the area should be cost neutral, both in terms of the council tax we pay and the impact on our overall carbon footprint.

"I moved to EH in 2005, to be closer to work, family and friends rather than because I fell in love with it. I confess I was expecting to find living here somewhat sterile and Stepford Wives-esque - but have found quite to the contrary. I have made good friends, discovered a strong sense of community - and love being able to walk through the nature reserve without having to even cross a road to get to it.

So, having reaped the benefits of EH for some seven years so far, I thought I'd try to make a positive contribution, as a parish councillor - so here I am! There's loads to learn, but hopefully I'll be pulling my weight soon in helping to keep this the great place to live that it is."

Our other Councillors are Nicky Bond and Keith Manning. Details to follow.
